This is the third post in the "Healing Is Voltage" series. The first two posts can be found here:
Healing is Voltage (Part 1): A Deeper Truth Behind Acidity & Alkalinity in Your Body
Healing is Voltage (Part 2): Do You Have Blocked “Circuits” & Drained “Battery Packs”?

Why Salamanders Can Regrow an Entire Arm or Leg

The role of voltage was dramatically evident in experiments by Robert O. Becker, MD, revealing that salamanders could regenerate entire arms, ears, legs, up to 1/3 of the brain, up to 1/2 of the heart, and almost all of the digestive tract if these were surgically removed. Yet frogs did not typically demonstrate regeneration like this.

In a salamander the voltage in the damaged area reaches -30 millivolts of "electron donor" during the recovery process while a frog typically does not make this voltage leap and does not regenerate the body part.

But when voltage from a battery was applied to the stump of a frog's removed limb, it regenerated a replacement limb instead of a scarred stump.

As described in the previous two posts, the body's ability to store and deliver voltage where it is needed in the body can be disrupted by scars, dental infections, toxicities (including those produced by infections, oxidation, etc), emotional baggage, low thyroid function (or other causes of low energy production), and other factors.

Is Anything Missing From the "Healing Is Voltage" Paradigm?

Identifying voltage disruptions and restoring normal voltage can be essential to healing. But as much as "healing is voltage" makes for a powerful and almost-unified theory of health and healing, it does not cover everything we need to know.

For example, genetics and bio-individual biochemistry not only affect voltage but also drive phenomena having nothing to do with voltage.

An example of a genetic issue that can affect voltage is genetic variation in the genes for superoxide dismutase (SOD), one of our key antioxidant enzymes.

When a person has a chronic infection that causes the body to produce a lot of superoxide to fight an infection, if a deficient or defenctive superoxide dismutase enzyme cannot control superoxide, oxidation escalates into oxidative stress.

The oxidative stress "steals" electrons from unintended targets (e.g. our cells), reduces voltage, increases acidity, and reduces oxygenation.

When not controlled, superoxide can combine with nitric oxide (which is also produced to fight infection) to form peroxynitrite, a very destructive oxidant.

This phenomenon of superoxide and nitric acid combining to form peroxynitrite is referred to as the "NO/ONOO cycle" or "NO/ONOO syndrome", where NO stands for nitric oxide, and ONOO stands for peroxynitrite.

This is a characteristic feature of chronic fatigue and has also been identified as a potential cause of heart failure, neurodegeneration, tinnitus. headaches, and migraines.

As an oxidant and "electron stealer", peroxiynitrite reduces voltage, but it has other effects that may even more important, such as altering cell signaling, damaging DNA, and causing cell death.

So the NO/ONOO syndrome is an example of genetics playing into voltage, but its other effects could be more important.

By the way, the NO/ONOO syndrome can be driven by other factors as well, such as EMFs, ionizing radiation, dysfunctional methylation, and altered function of enzymes like nitric oxide synthases (NOS), which produces nitric oxide, and NADPH oxidase (NOX), which produces superoxide.

An example of genetics causing a problem that probably has nothing to do with voltage (though it might!) is chronic calcium oxalate kidney stones due to primary hyperoxaluria.

This is a genetically-driven deficiency of enzymes that metabolize certain amino acids, resulting in an accumulation of oxalate, a byproduct of the incomplete breakdown of the amino acids. Searching for a loss of voltage as a cause of kidney stones could be a dead end in cases where the stones are caused by primary oxaluria.

Toward a More Unified Theory of Health and Healing

Disruption of voltage is not necessarily the explanation for everything, and there is still more to include in a unified theory of health and healing. But we will get there eventually.

In the meantime, I've created a system that covers nearly every type of factor known to influence health and healing. I do not want people to suffer and struggle unnecessarily inside of the incomplete paradigms and systems used by so many health care practitioners out there.

It is my mission to sleuth out the causes of what ails you and to use a robust system to help "quarterback" your path back to the most "fully charged" version of you possible.

If you'd like to learn how we can do that together, download the Bio-Individual Blueprint Roadmap. and watch the walkrhough video. Then if it makes sense for you,  schedule a time to discuss whether you are a fit to work with our Bio-Individual Blueprint system.
